Date: March 27, 2015
Time: 8:30-3:30
Place: Capitol Plaza, Montpelier, VT

This workshop focuses on teaching reading to students who have Autism Spectrum Disorders and extending

presented along with practical, take-home strategies that can be implemented the next day.
Key features:
the methodology for vocabulary acquisition
the progression of participation for skill development.
the critical importance of sentence construction for the development of cognitive and communication
skills
ways in which non-verbal students can participate in literacy
comprehension skill development
writing issues
extension of reading skills across the curriculum
activities for the older student
data collection
Participants will be provided with a comprehensive program for student participation in literacy skill
development and how they, as instructors, can facilitate the process.
